A Dutch Wedding at Villa Mon Repos, Taormina — Rike & Elise

Some weddings arrive with a vision already fully formed. You feel it in the details, in the choices, in the way the couple has thought about every element of their day.

Rike and Elise came to Sicily from the Netherlands with exactly that kind of clarity — and their wedding at Villa Mon Repos in Taormina was everything they had imagined, and more.

The Setting — Villa Mon Repos, Taormina

Perched above the Ionian Sea with sweeping views over Isola Bella and the Sicilian coastline, Villa Mon Repos is one of the most exclusive and cinematically extraordinary wedding venues in Taormina. Its panoramic terraces, Mediterranean gardens and warm stone architecture make it a natural frame for any love story.

For an international couple seeking elegance, privacy and the kind of backdrop that takes your breath away — it is, simply, perfect.

A Symbolic Ceremony in English and Dutch

The symbolic ceremony took place at Villa Mon Repos at 17:00, officiated by Wendy Keizer — a Dutch celebrant who wove together two languages, two cultures and one shared promise into a ceremony that felt entirely their own.

The ceremony was conducted in English and Dutch — a beautiful reflection of who Rike and Elise are and where they come from. Three close friends delivered speeches that had the entire gathering laughing and in tears in equal measure.

Small group, deep emotion. That is the kind of wedding that films beautifully.

The Vision — Lemons, Blue and White

Rike and Elise had a vision as precise as it was poetic: lemons, blue and white. A palette drawn straight from the soul of Sicily — the bright citrus of the island's hillside groves, the deep blue of the Ionian Sea, the clean white of Taormina's stone terraces.

The florals were by Toscano Fiori — a Sicilian team who understood exactly how to translate this vision into something real and beautiful. The result was a table setting and ceremony space that felt genuinely Sicilian — not a stylistic imposition, but a conversation between the couple's vision and the place they had chosen.

Elise's dress was Pronovias — elegant, refined and perfectly in harmony with the atmosphere of Villa Mon Repos and the Mediterranean light of a May afternoon in Taormina.

Hair and makeup were handled by Loredana Calandra (hair) and Dalila La Colla (makeup) — two of Sicily's most trusted wedding professionals, whose work was as flawless as the setting around them.

The Day — From Welcome Drinks to Dancing Until 1am

The timeline of the day unfolded with a natural, unhurried rhythm that is the hallmark of a well-planned Sicilian wedding:

A welcome drink at 16:30 eased guests into the villa's atmosphere. The symbolic ceremony at 17:00 was intimate and deeply personal — just the couple, their closest people and Wendy's words filling the Taormina air. An aperitivo at 17:30 followed on the terrace, with the sea below and the sky beginning to turn gold.

Dinner at 20:00 was served outdoors at the villa — speeches woven through the courses, laughter rising into the warm May night. The cake cutting at 22:30 gave way to the first dance at 23:00 — and then the dancing began in earnest.

A choreographed dance was one of the evening's highlights — a planned surprise that became one of the most joyful and cinematic moments of the entire day. The dance with her father was one of those quiet, unrepeatable moments that says everything without a single word.

The celebration continued until 1:00am — the kind of ending that tells you a wedding was truly lived.

A Morning with the Groom

Before the wedding day began, Rike prepared at a private villa in Giardini Naxos — a beautiful property in Contrada San Biagio, Fiumefreddo di Sicilia. The quiet morning light, the calm before the celebration, the small rituals of getting ready — these moments are often the ones that move people most when they watch their film back.

There is something extraordinary about the hours before a wedding. The stillness. The anticipation. The private version of the day that only the film will ever fully capture.

The Music

The reel was set to "Ancora, Ancora, Ancora" (Mark Ronson Remix) — a choice that perfectly captured the energy, romance and joy of Rike and Elise's day. Music in a wedding film is never just background. It is the emotional architecture of the entire piece — and this track gave the film exactly the warmth and movement it deserved.
