Giuseppe & Letizia — A Sicilian Wedding in Ragusa Ibla
Some couples travel the world to find the perfect place to get married. Giuseppe and Letizia already knew where it was. Born and raised in Sicily, now building their life in northern Italy, they came back to their island — to Ragusa Ibla — to say yes in the place that shaped them.
A June Saturday. Eighty guests. A baroque hilltop town that needs no filter.
The Ceremony — Chiesa di San Giacomo, Giardini Iblei
The morning began quietly, with preparations on opposite sides of the city — the groom at his family home in Marina di Ragusa, the bride at hers in Ragusa. By mid-morning, everything converged at the Giardini Iblei, Ragusa Ibla's historic public gardens, where the intimate Chiesetta di San Giacomo stands tucked among the trees.
Few wedding venues in Sicily carry this kind of atmosphere. The small church is almost hidden — you have to know it's there. Inside, officiated by Padre Giovanni Salonia, Giuseppe and Letizia exchanged their vows surrounded by family and the people who matter most. The bride had learned her promise by heart.
Outside, the gardens were in full June bloom — lush, green, and perfectly still in the morning light.
The Reception — Ristorante Gramole, Tenuta Chiaramonte
From the Giardini Iblei, the celebration moved to Tenuta Chiaramonte, home to Ristorante Gramole — one of the most evocative reception venues in the Ragusa area, set within a working agricultural estate that embodies everything authentic about southeastern Sicily.
The florals by Lorefice set the tone for the evening: an abundant, flower-forward aesthetic that transformed the tables into something out of a countryside garden. The wedding stationery and graphic details were handled by Universo Tipografia, while the favours — handmade by the couple themselves — added a personal touch that guests were still talking about by the end of the night.
Then the Quartet Folk from Agrigento took the floor. What followed was exactly what live music does to a wedding — it pulls everyone in, breaks down the last walls of formality, and turns a dinner into a proper celebration. With Eros Lessi as the evening's host, the night ran until late.
The Wedding Film
This film was shot by Film Vision Studio on 6 June 2025. Photography by Angelo Alborino.
Every frame of this wedding film was crafted to hold what the day actually felt like — not just what it looked like. The light in the Giardini Iblei at 11 in the morning. The noise of the band bouncing off the stone walls of Tenuta Chiaramonte. The moment the groom's parents sat down together, separately, and the quiet weight of that.
This is what documentary wedding filmmaking looks like in Sicily.
